Application / Orientation / Start Dates

All applications must be submitted online. Paper applications will not be accepted. Before you apply, please visit the Before You Apply portion of this site to make sure you have the appropriate preparation and pre-requisites.

Admissions Process

A competitive selection process is completed for each group of students who apply to the Accelerated Nursing Option.  The ACNO does not maintain an ongoing waitlist.  Selection is based on applicants' education, pre-requisite GPA, work experience, certifications, volunteer experience, honors, resume, and personal essay.  Applicants must also successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

In addition to the academic requirements, MSCD Department of Nursing requires other information including immunization records and CPR certification. Candidates must be able to meet the rigorous physical, mental, emotional and academic standards required to become a professional nurse. This process does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of age, race, religion, creed, gender, national origin, disability or veteran status.

Program Cost

The estimated cost of the 2009 ACNO is approximately $27,000, which includes tuition, lab fees, Metro student fees, health insurance, uniforms and some books and supplies. Please note that tuition and fees are subject to change without notice. This is a cash funded program and receives no state funding; therefore the cost is the same for in-state and out-of-state students.

Financial Aid / Scholarships

Scholarships, living stipends and loan forgiveness programs may be available to help students with their educational expenses. Students may apply for scholarships after they have been accepted into the ACNO.

Health Insurance

Entering the Accelerated Nursing Option requires additional insurance, vaccines, immunizations, and BLS certification. Requirements will be reviewed once you have been accepted; documentation is required during orientation.
