The highlight of each academic
year is the Fall Faculty Conference. Usually a day-long event, the Fall
Conference focuses faculty on a current theme that initiates a year-long
campus conversation on among faculty, staff and administrators that enhances
instruction at the college. Themes for the Fall Conference include the

YOU are invited to participate in a novel faculty conference, "From Bright Ideas to Best Practices: Teaching that Enhances Learning."What makes this conference unique is its effort to celebrate our excellence as instructors in our various disciplines at the college. After all, this is what we do best! We work hard at this college providing the best possible learning environment for out students. So why not share our best teaching efforts with each other?To encourage sharing, the conference committee has designed Round Table Discussion Groups. Each of you have been assigned to one of these Round Tables where were we hope you will bring a copy of your "Best Practice or Bright Idea" to share with other faculty.In addition to the Round Table Discussion Groups, YOU also are invited to attend one of the sessions presented by two experts on generating class involvement through active learning. Dr. Rita Silverman (Pace University) will engage you in using "case study techniques" to increase classroom learning. Dr. Joanna Dunlap (University of Colorado at Denver) will introduce a multitude of techniques for enhancing student learning in the online environment.Finally, after posting all the faculty's "Bright Ideas/Best Practices" submissions will be displayed during lunch. The Conference Committee will review the proposals to select four faculty whose "bright ideas/best practices" submissions were judged "exceptional." Each of these faculty will receive a $500 professional development award in honor of their achievement.
