Transfer Students

You may find it helpful to see an Advisor before registering for Metro classes for the first time. To the meeting with the Advisor BRING:

1. Proof of transferable credits.

Credits earned elsewhere are transferable if your previous courses are equivalent to those offered at Metro. The Transfer Services Office (Central Classroom 103) performs such evaluations. Arrange for the official transcript(s) from your previous college(s) to be sent there. Do so promptly, after your admission to Metro. Then, the Advisor will be able to help you avoid unnecessarily repeating a course, when you see her to set up a schedule of classes.

When official transcript(s) are not available in time for registration:

- take unofficial transcript(s) to the Transfer Services (Central Classroom Bldg., room CN 103); there, you will receive a Preliminary Transfer Evaluation (PTE) form.

- bring the PTE form to your meeting with the Advisor, so that your previous work is, at least tentatively, taken into account.

NOTE: Maximum 64 credit hours are transferable to Metro from 2-year institutions; maximum 90 credit hours from a combination of 2-year and 4-year colleges can be applied toward a Metro degree.

2. List of Expectations

You are already an advanced student (even if you are transferring just a few credits). What topics should your Advisor discuss with you?

- Have you thought about a specific major (if you don't have one)? If not, before seeing an Advisor, check out "Disovering Your Major" section on this site.

- When do you expect to graduate?

- Have you fulfilled the General College Requirements?
