CSU Will No Longer Accept Credit Card Payments
Colorado State University has announced it will no longer accept
major credit cards for payment of tuition and fees as a result of
serious budget cuts the university has faced this year. Visa and
MasterCard will no longer be accepted as of July 1.
The university made the decision because of the high cost of processing
fees charged for the use of Visa and MasterCard - about $600,000
a year. Students will be able to use Discover cards, electronic
checks, personal checks, cash, wire transfer or cashier's checks.
Vice President for Administration and Finance Mike Barnett said
Metro State doesn't plan to follow suit. "We have considered
it, but we decided against changing, mainly because we want to continue
making it convenient for students."
