MetroConnect Debut 'Very Positive'H

MetroConnect made its debut Monday, marking a major change in the way students, faculty and staff communicate with each other.

From now on, e-mail, calendar and Banner Web information are accessed through a single login. MetroConnect provides numerous other features, including the delivery of personalized messages, information and event notification based on a person's role at the college.

"We've received a lot of phone calls from people requesting assistance with logging on, but the overall reaction to MetroConnect has been very positive," said Yvonne Flood, Director of Administration for IT.Rachel Miller, student government vice president for communications, believes MetroConnect will make it easier for organizations to distribute information about programs and activities, which will improve the social atmosphere on campus.

"I think after the shock of having a new system wears off, it will have an overwhelmingly positive effect on students," she said. "Their communication with everyone else will improve, and the excitement of a new system will definitely demonstrate to students that Metro is improving its technology."

Due to popular demand, additional MetroConnect e-mail training sessions have been added to next week's schedule.

To sign-up for a MetroConnect training session, go to: https://www.mscd.edu:9091/trainreg/.
