Diana Whye has been appointed interim executive director of the Metropolitan State College of Denver Foundation. In this position Whye will support the Foundation's Board of Directors and manage its programs and policies.

Established in 1964, the Foundation's purpose is to raise, invest and steward private donations for Metro State. Its 35-member board is primarily made up of local business and community leaders. In addition to fundraising, board members engage in a great deal of "friendraising," according to Whye.

"We introduce potential donors to Metro with the goal of generating interest in the programs and initiatives of the college," she said.

The Metro State Foundation, which currently has a $3 million dollar endowment, works with the college leadership to establish fundraising goals and outline targeted uses for the money raised. It recently completed a five-year fundraising campaign that raised $16 million, the bulk of which was specified for student scholarships.

"The Foundation has a long history of working with both the college leadership and the business community to develop fundraising plans and programs that benefit Metro students," Whye said.

A graduate of Regis University, Whye joined the Metro State Foundation in 1997. She said she looks forward to working with the Board of Directors, the College and staff members, Diane McAllister and Melanie Geary, for the ultimate benefit of Metro students.
