3. Tivoli revitalization project a major undertaking

March saw more dust, wet paint and scaffolding at the Tivoli as the building's 14-month revitalization project continues.

The project is a large undertaking for AHEC both in scope and in the challenge of keeping the building open during construction with as little impact on Tivoli activities as possible. To read more go to

Metro's student journalists collect more awards

Just weeks after The Metropolitan won third place in the national Associated Collegiate Press Newspaper of the Year competition, student journalists collected more awards at the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards for Region 9, which includes Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico.

The Met Report won two first-place awards, one for Best Television Newscast - Non-Daily and the other for Best Online Student Broadcast Station. The station also picked up a second-place award for TV Sports Photography and two third-place awards for TV Feature Photography and TV Sports Reporting.

"The Met Report is only in its second year, so that says a lot about what we've done in a short time, especially beating a school like CSU, which has a great program and has been around for a while," said Tom Livingston, news director and anchor of The Met Report.

Added Jim Craig, coordinator of Metro's broadcasting program: "I am delighted with the success of the Met Report. I am proud of them - they're good, talented people doing good, creative work."

The Met Report is available online at www.metreport.com

In the newspaper category, The Metropolitan won first place for Best All-Around Weekly Newspaper, as well as first place awards for In-Depth Reporting and General News Photography.

The Met Online took first place in Online In-Depth Reporting and in Online Opinion and Commentary. http://www.mscd.edu/themet/

Metrosphere won third place in the Best Student Magazine category. Metrosphere/index.html
