Reading Professor Vince Orlando will spend two weeks in China next month with teacher education students at Huiyin Teachers College, northwest of Shanghai in the Jiansu Province. Arranged through the University of New England, Orlando is among a group of about 25 U.S. faculty traveling to China this summer to give college lectures in various academic disciplines. Orlando will lecture
to students studying secondary education. He plans to focus on ways
to develop creativity and critical thinking skills. "They're interested
in learning about western ways and western culture," Orlando said.
"From a cultural aspect it will be fascinating to see the country
and to see how the Chinese approach education." |
