The Metro State Center for Visual Art (CVA) presents Picasso: 25 Years of Edition Ceramics from the Edward and Ann Weston Collection now through Feb. 28. The public is invited to the free opening reception on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the CVA is hosting a free lecture by Denver Art Museum curator Gwen Chanzit titled "Picasso and Ceramics" on Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) enjoyed recognition as one of the leading painters, sculptors and graphic artists of the 20th century. He epitomized the Renaissance ideal of an artist, working in every medium with skill, intelligence and energy.

Picasso created this selection of 65 ceramic works between 1947 and 1971 in collaboration with Georges and Suzanne Ramie and other artisans at their Madoura workshop. The exhibit features plates, bowls, pitchers, vases and plaques as well as photographs of Picasso at work in the Madoura pottery workshop. Over the years Picasso and the Madoura studio produced over 633 different pieces in limited editions.

Picasso: 25 Years of Edition Ceramics from the Edward and Ann Weston Collection is sponsored by the Metro State Student Affairs Board and McCormick's Fish House and Bar. The Access to Art series is sponsored by Quizno's and the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado. The traveling exhibit was organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions of Los Angeles.

The CVA, located at 1734 Wazee St., is open Tuesday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
