Metro State's Center for Visual Art (CVA) presents True Grit: Seven Female Visionaries Before Feminism and Louise Bourgeois: Selections from the Collection of Ginny Williams from March 11 through April 24.

True Grit is an exhibition of painting, sculpture and drawings made between 1951 and 1975 by seven female artists whose work exudes both purity and toughness. The exhibition surveys the works of these women who were making radical art before the term "feminism" had even entered the cultural vernacular.

Guest artist Nancy Grossman speak about her work on March 10 at 7 p.m., and the exhibition's opening reception will be March 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

In addition to Grossman, the other artists featured in the exhibition include Lee Bontecou, Louise Bourgeois, Jay DeFeo, Claire Falkenstein, Louise Nevelson and Nancy Spero.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Metro State Student Affairs Board. The Access to Art series is sponsored by Quizno's and the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado. CVA is located at 1734 Wazee Street, call 303-294-5207 for hours of operation.
