Planning for the celebration of Metro State's 40th anniversary during the 2005-06 academic year will proceed over the summer, with the 40th Anniversary Committee continuing its semi-weekly meetings.

As reported earlier in @Metro, the celebration's kick-off event is A Night of Legends and Champions: Brian Wilson in Concert on August 26. All proceeds from the concert will benefit Metro's athletic scholarship fund for student-athletes. VIP tickets are $250 and include pre-concert cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and premium seating. Next up will be an inauguration day event in conjunction with Fall Convocation. The date will be scheduled pending president designate Stephen Jordan's approval.

The Alumni Relations Office and the Alumni Association are planning several 40th anniversary events. The association hopes to hold its annual meeting on Founders' Day and to culminate the yearlong anniversary with a celebration event next May. Two other potential projects for the year will include an alumni-to-alumni networking directory and a recognition program for outstanding Metro State graduates.

Finally, the College Communications Office is planning a commemorative issue of Metro Magazine to feature "The Forty Faces of Metro State." This will include people, programs and innovations—essentially 40 things of which Metro should be exceptionally proud.
