IT Reminders: system outage and MetroConnect logout

IT will be performing scheduled maintenance and repair over the coming holiday weekend, necessitating the following system outages:

  • All services will be down Saturday, July 3, from 12:01 a.m. until 12 noon.
  • MetroConnect and Banner services will be down from 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, until 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 4. This includes e-mail, calendar, Banner and Banner Web, and all kiosk services.
  • The student labs will be closed Saturday, July 3, through Monday, July 5.

In addition, IT requests that users log out of MetroConnect and other computing systems when they are finished. Closing the Web browser (the X in the red box in upper right-hand corner) does not log you out of the system. It leaves an open session running in the background. These open sessions stay active until your time-out is reached, utilizing valuable computing resources and affecting system performance.

Users are encouraged to select short time-out limits and to always log out by clicking the "logout" icon in the upper right corner of the MetroConnect window after each session and before leaving at the end of the day. Closing down idle sessions provides everyone with more efficient computing.
