One Book, One Denver launches Thursday
February 23, 2005

The launch of the second year of the One Book, One Denver program is Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the Denver Central Library. Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper will announce the book title at the press conference.

In addition to encouraging citizens to read the chosen "one book," the program holds free lectures, dramatic readings and book discussions to foster participation.

Metro State is a sponsoring partner in the project and the English Department works with the Colorado Endowment for the Humanities (CEH) to offer free discussions of the book with faculty members. English Professor Bill Hamilton, who coordinates the effort with the CEH, and Chicano/a studies Associate Professor Luis Torres will each hold a discussion. Watch for more information about Metro's participation in the program in a future @Metro.

"Peace Like a River" by Leif Enger was the book chosen for the program's inaugural year.

You can reserve a copy of the 2005 book before the title is announced tomorrow by going to http://www.denvergov.org/onebook/
