BOT covers president search, new college initiatives
October 13, 2004
Last week's Board of Trustees meeting included a report on two new college initiatives and some questions on the presidential search.

John Schmidt, head of the Council of Chairs, expressed concern about the status of the search. Board members responded that they are working hard but are determined to find the right person.

Search Advisory Committee Chair John Buechner said an additional three names were submitted to the trustees to consider, bringing the total prospects under consideration to seven. "We're now in the process of asking for letters of reference from those seven individuals," he said.

The Board also received presentations on "An Adventure of the American Mind" and the $9.5 million Teacher Quality Enhancement Program Grant, recently awarded to Metro State and Denver Public Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. Also during the meeting, trustees agreed to a schedule change. Next month's meeting will be held Nov. 10, a week later than the usual first Wednesday of the month.
