The Colorado Commission on Higher Education has approved Metro State's performance contract, including a change that was made to the contract at the Feb. 2 Board of Trustees meeting. "The performance contract fulfills the obligation of SB189 and ushers a new era of accountability and responsibility for the college," said Interim President Ray Kieft. Now that the contract is final, Metro State can proceed with requesting enterprise status. "Therefore I have asked college attorney Lee Combs to prepare a resolution for the Board of Trustee's action that establishes Metro as an enterprise beginning July 1, 2005." Enterprise status
will take the college out from under the restrictions of the Tabor Amendment,
allowing it to raise tuition as needed if approved by the CCHE. |
