AHEC Purchasing has announced that all leased copy machines on campus will be replaced with new copiers for the 2005-06 fiscal year. Every department must order a new machine after June 15 and ideally before June 30, 2005. According to Bruce Burgess, AHEC director of purchasing, the campus goes through the process of replacing all copiers every four years. He adds that since the technology has changed, the new copiers are able to do much more. "Basic machines will be fairly close to last year's prices," said Burgess. "But there are many more features availableprinting, scanning and faxingand it will be a three-year lease, so it's important what you're getting into." AHEC Purchasing will hold information sessions so people can make informed choices about the costs and benefits of the new copiers. These informational meetings will be held in ADM 340 on the following dates:
In addition, a product show highlighting the different copiers will be held June 1 and 2, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in ADM 130, 140 and 155. AHEC Purchasing will also help departments write up the requisite paperwork for requesting the new copiers. The existing Ikon and Minolta state price agreements will expire on June 30, 2005. The new state price agreements for the 2005-06 fiscal year are with Ikon, Konica, Minolta and Xerox. There will be a transition period of up to six months in order for the vendors to get all the copiers changed. "The May 25 and 26 informational meetings are filling up fast," says Burgess. To attend the meetings or for any other questions about ordering a new copier for your department contact Burgess at burgessb@ahec.edu.
