E-mail quarantine system improves
January 12, 2005

Starting this semester, "quarantine" e-mails sent through MetroConnect now offer new options for managing e-mail identified as spam, which often fills up e-mail boxes and slows down server efficiency. They also look different from the old quarantine messages.

The new quarantine e-mails include a unique ID number, the sender's address, the subject line, the date the message was received, the size of the message in bytes and the queue in which the message is being quarantined, or isolated.

There will also be three new check boxes. By checking the appropriate box, users can select from the following options:

  1. Release the message. Releasing a message sends the message to your inbox and anyone else listed as a recipient.
  2. Delete the message. Deleting the message removes it from your quarantine list.
  3. Whitelist the message. Checking the Whitelist option allows you to request to "whitelist" all messages coming in from that specific sender or domain. All whitelist requests will be reviewed and approved according to the Metro's current "Spam/E-mail Filtration Policy."
