IT recommends fix to e-mail bug in Microsoft Outlook
March 16, 2005

Having problems sometimes reading your e-mail using Outlook? This may be because the original e-mail message was composed using HTML formatting.

Outlook users may not be able to read replies or forwarded e-mail in HTML. This is a known bug in Outlook for which Microsoft has not yet released a patch to correct.

If you are having this problem, you should be able to read the message by logging into MetroConnect e-mail.

IT recommends that, whenever possible, users compose e-mails using plain text. To configure Outlook to compose e-mail using plain text, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Tools menu, then select Options.
  2. Click on the Mail Format tab.
  3. Select Plain text where it reads Compose in this message
    format.
  4. Click Apply then click Ok.

Another option, if you prefer or need to use HTML, is to configure the e-mail editor in MetroConnect to compose in HTML.

If you have additional questions or need assistance, call the IT Help Desk at 303-556-8325.
