Metro Events of Note
February 2, 2005

Two upcoming campus events are centered on helping people.

Auraria holds blood drive for Bonfils
Bonfils Blood Center, which every week must collect 4,200 units of blood to meet community needs and be prepared for unforeseen events, is holding a blood drive at Auraria today and next Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Hours for both days are 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the North Classroom Atrium. Contact Kelly Young, 303-556-6273, for information or to schedule an appointment.

Exhibit features Asian Art
The Auraria Library is co-sponsoring an exhibition of works from the collection of Wann Caron to celebrate the Lunar New Year, which begins Feb. 9. Caron's private collection includes pieces from 1967 to 2000. While it emphasizes Vietnamese art from the 1990s, it also includes works from other Asian countries such as China, Japan, Singapore, Cambodia, India and Sri Lanka. Some of the art works will be offered for sale to benefit the tsunami relief efforts of the Red Cross and UNICEF.

The exhibit runs through Feb. 28 in the library's first-floor gallery space during regular library hours. Caron will discuss the collection at a reception on Feb. 15, 4-5:30 p.m.

Other sponsors are the CU Asian Student Services Office and Asian Student Government. For additional information, contact Eveline Yang, 303-556-6381, or eveline.yang@cudenver.edu.
