Chicano art and homeland security are two topics that Metro community members can learn more about next week.

Reminder for symposium deadline
Don't forget, the registration deadline for "Leaving Aztlán: Alternative Paths" is Monday, Feb. 21. The symposium is in conjunction with the current exhibition at Metro's Center for Visual Art titled "Leaving Aztlán: Rethinking Contemporary Latino and Chicano Art."

The symposium, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 25, will feature artists, curators and Chicano studies scholars. Admission is free for Metro students and faculty.

Homeland Security
On Tuesday, Feb. 22, "Homeland Security, Gated Communities and the New Nationalism" will feature Greg Moser, a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Globalization and Security at the University of Denver. Moser is also coordinator of Emergency Management Planning, Training and Exercise for Jefferson County, Colorado.

The event begins at 10 a.m. in TIV 640 with a lecture and is followed by a panel discussion at 1 p.m.
