Events of Note
March 9, 2005

From women in the military to West African dancing, the events of Women’s History Month offer something for everyone.

In observance of Women’s History Month, the Auraria Library Diversity Committee is highlighting Women in the Military. Metro history Professor Monys Hagen will discuss her ongoing research into the role of women at Camp Hale on March 15 at 2:30 p.m., followed by a reception. The event will be held in the area between the north courtyard and room 118. (To visit Hagen’s Web site on Camp Hale go to http://www.mscd.edu/~history/camphale/)

In addition, Rosemary Evetts and Monica Van Ness of the Auraria Library have created an exhibit of information and memorabilia dealing with Women in the Military that will be on display throughout March. For further information, email althea.redd@cudenver.edu.

An incredible array of other events will be held in celebration of Women’s History Month during the coming days, everything from today’s slide lecture documenting the correspondence between women and Civil War soldiers to Friday’s multicultural Bao Bao Festival with traditional West African dancing and drumming, Middle Eastern dance, storytelling, contemporary music and song.
