Blackwell is an assistant professor in the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her current research and teaching examines how racial and sexual differences shape the challenges and possibilities of transnational organizing in the Americas by focusing on how women of color in the U.S. and indigenous women in Mexico organize to resist the conditions created by globalization. Blackwell's lecture
is sponsored by Metro's Department of Chicano/a Studies and two student
groups: Conscious Journey and Los Herederos of Change and Esperanza. Student Travel
Program presents discussion on aviation policy Refreshments will be provided by the Student Travel Program, which sponsored the students' attendance at the conference.
