Events of Note
April 20, 2005

The fun doesn't end with Spring Fling. Here are a few other entertaining and educational events happening soon.

See a movie, benefit the library
Monday, April 25, is Auraria Library Night at the StarzFilmCenter. On that night the Friends of the Auraria Library will receive a percentage of the ticket sales for all movies at Starz. Funds raised by the Friends support the purchase of much-needed research resources, including books and databases. So, if you've been thinking of a night out at the movies, consider the 25th for that night! Tickets are the usual prices, ranging from $5.50 to $8.50. A full roster of the movies that will be presented is at http://www.starzfilmcenter.com.

For more information contact Ellen Metter at the Auraria Library at 303-556-4516 or ellen.metter@cudenver.edu. For information about the Friends of the Auraria Library contact Mary K. Dodge at 303-556-3526 or Mary.Dodge@storm.cudenver.edu.

Theatre program presents "Bus Stop"
Metro's Theatre Program will present a Student Stage Ensemble production of "Bus Stop," by William Inge, from April 26 to May 1. "Bus Stop" is Inge's classic comedy about the relationships formed by a group of bus passengers stranded at a midwestern bus stop in the middle of a snowstorm. The action focuses on the kindling romance between a nightclub chanteuse and a headstrong cowboy, as well as the poignant lives of the other folks in this street-corner coffee shop.

Show times are April 26-30 at 7:30 p.m. and May 1 at 2:30 p.m. and all performances will be held in the King Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15 for adults, free for Metro students with student ID, and $8 for other students and seniors. The show is not recommended for children under 5. Reservations are recommended; for tickets and reservations call 303-556-2296.

The Psychology Department will hold its ninth annual Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference on Wednesday, April 27. Tom Pyszczynski, professor of psychology at the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs, will deliver the keynote address, "On Crusades and Jihads: The Psychological Roots of Crisis in the Middle East," from 9-10 a.m. in Tivoli 320.
