Flight academy offers free workshop to Metro women
November 10, 2004
A unique two-day workshop for women interested in exploring personal growth and self discovery through flying is being offered free this weekend to Metro students, faculty and staff.

Women Take Flight will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Western Air Flight Academy at Jefferson County Airport from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

The $150 fee has been waived for Metro State participants.

The Women Take Flight workshop was developed by Linda Fritsche Castner, an airport owner and operator who wanted to learn why more women don't learn to fly. Deb Price, an adjunct professor in Metro's Aviation and Aerospace Science Department, is one of the flight instructors.

The workshop is based on the premise that mind and body are connected and that emotional awareness is a key factor in developing motivation. Workshop participants will have the opportunity for learning that allows them to experience feelings of self-reliance.

The workshop will include presentations of learning theories in lecture format followed by experiential learning activities, journaling and discussion. Each day will include classroom experience and hands-on flight time guided by FAA-certified flight instructors for an overall total of 18 hours.

For additional information and to RSVP call Price at 720-635-7404. For information about Western Air Flight Academy go to http://www.westernairflightacademy.com/
