Metro State's Faculty Senate has approved a three-paragraph statement on academic freedom.

"Many colleges and universities around Colorado have such statements and some senators felt it would be appropriate for Metro State to also have one," said Faculty Senate President Hal Nees.

Nees said that the statement was developed during a six-to-eight-week process that included a town hall meeting with all faculty.

"The statement was developed by the Faculty Senate and approved by resolution," he added.
