2. Sing out: Metro ensemble back from Lone Star jazz fest

The Metro Jazz Voices, one of only four collegiate vocal groups invited, just returned from the Fifth Annual North Texas Jazz Festival held April 1-3 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Addison, Texas.

3. New president, tuition increase approved at BOT meeting


The selection of Stephen Jordan as Metro State's next president and a tuition increase dominated last Wednesday's Board of Trustees meeting.

4. Frontczak receives national Marketing Educator of the Year award

Marketing Professsor Nancy Frontczak has been named Marketing Educator of the Year for 2005 from the national Marketing Educators' Association.

5. Open House attendance highest ever

Nearly 1,400 visitors attended the Metro State Open House on April 9-the highest number in the event's five-year history.

6. Business students win regionals, head to nationals, for second consecutive year

Metro's Students In Free Enterprise team won its regional competition for the second consecutive year earlier this month, earning a trip to the national competition in Kansas City to be held May 22-24.

7. Today is Disability Awareness Day on campus

Today, April 13, is Disability Awareness Day at Auraria. Metro's Access Center is teaming with UCD and CCD to present "Still I Rise: Overcoming Challenges," a day-long series of events designed to increase disability awareness.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. an information fair will be held, during which campus and community programs will display their products and services.

Other events include the following:

11-11:30 a.m. Is a Disability a Barrier to Success?
Panel discussion
11:30 a.m Free Lunch
11:45 a.m. -1 p.m. Having a Disability and Being Disabled Are Not the Same - Special guest speaker Dr. Steve Timmer

Timmer is an engineer, designer, trainer, chairman and cofounder of Premiere Assistive Technology, and the author of "Pigeonholes are for Pigeons."

All events will take place in the Tivoli Turnhalle.
