2. First report on COF application numbers come in

Almost 16,400 Metro State students have applied to receive their College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipends. The figure was arrived at by comparing the list of all those who are eligible to register for the college's 2005 Fall Semester against the list of all COF applicants in the state.

3. Planning begins for college's 40th


Metro State has its 40th anniversary during the 2005-06 academic year and planning for the months-long celebration has begun.

4. Faculty Senate approves resolution on academic freedom

5. Roadrunners add distance running to roster

With the addition of cross country to Metro's roster of sports, come next fall the "Roadrunners" will be just that.

6. Campus to host Spring Fling

The rites of spring come to campus today and tomorrow, April 20-21, as Student Activities presents Spring Fling. The event, which will go from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, includes food, games, arts and crafts, live music and dancers, and displays and booths from various commercial vendors and student organizations.

7. Metro journalism students receive awards

Eleven Metro students have received Mark of Excellence awards from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). The awards honor "the best in student journalism" for print, radio, television and online collegiate journalism. The Metro students won at the regional level and were honored at the SPJ spring regional conference in Salt Lake City on April 8-9.
