3. Outstanding Metro women to be honored at May 5 reception


The winners of this year's Outstanding Women Awards will be announced at the 18th annual awards reception on Thursday, May 5. The reception will be held at the Museo de las Americas from 6-7:30 p.m.

4. April Pool's Day water safety event to be held on campus

What's the best way to cool off on a hot summer day? Swimming, of course! Kids love to swim—but pools can also be dangerous. Drowning is the leading cause of death for children under five and an average of nine people per day drowned in 2000 in the United States.

5. Election Commission to address complaint

Per its bylaws, the student Election Commission will hold a hearing on Thursday, April 28, to address a complaint that has been lodged regarding last week's Student Government Assembly (SGA) elections. The hearing will be held from 1-3 p.m. in TIV 320C. The election results may be announced following the hearing pending the commission's decision.

9. BOT to meet May 4

Metro State's Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, May 4, in TIV 320. Prior to the meeting, the trustees will meet informally with students in TIV 329.

Among the items on the agenda are awards of tenure and a proposal for a new minor in eating disorders. The agenda will be posted later this week at:
