Center cancels flu shot clinics
The Health Center at Auraria will not receive its expected shipment
of 1,250 flu shots (influenza vaccine); consequently, all flu shot clinics
are cancelled for this year.

is GLBT Awareness Month
October is Gay,
Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Awareness Month and GLBT Student Services
at Auraria is co-sponsoring numerous events throughout the month designed
to create awareness, tolerance and community.
Among the featured
events are the National Coming Out Day, a lecture by Wayne State University
philosophy Professor John Corvino, Ph.D., who specializes in ethical
theory and applied ethics, and Carnivale, the annual high tea for allies.

Tivoli
wins preservation award
The Tivoli Student
Union has been chosen to receive Historic Denver's 2004 Community Preservation
Award. The award acknowledges business, individuals or institutions
that have gone out of their way to carry forward the preservation of
Denver's character in future development.

offers software demo
Faculty and staff
are invited to a software demonstration by a representative from RefWorks,
an online bibliographic citation management software company. The demonstration
will be held on Monday, October 11, at 5:30 pm in the Auraria Library,

Auraria
AIDS Walk team comes in eighth
Raising $10,847,
the Auraria Team for the August 22 AIDS Walk Colorado fundraiser placed
eighth for the amount of money raised. The campus team had 79 walkers,
and the top fundraiser was again Steve Mascaro of the Auraria Library,
who raised $3,515. Second place went Dorothy Hicks, a Metro State Meritus
student who raised $1,142.

Computer
Science earns accreditation
Metro State's Computer
Science program has been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering
and Technology.
"This demonstrates
that we are on the leading edge and speaks to the high quality of our
program," said Steve Beaty, chair of the Department of Mathematical
and Computer Sciences. The only other accredited programs in the state
are at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and the
University of Colorado's Denver and Colorado Springs campuses.
ABET currently
accredits about 2,600 programs at more than 550 colleges nationwide
in applied science, computing, engineering and technology.
