2. Athletics, COF and controlled maintenance fees covered at BOT meeting

After the announcement that Interim President Ray Kieft has agreed to stay on until a new president is found, the Board of Trustees continued with the scheduled agenda items for its Nov. 10 meeting, including reports on Intercollegiate Athletics, funding for controlled maintenance, and the College Opportunity Fund (COF).

3. E-Grades starts Dec. 13

5. Departments: Need funds?

Looking for a quick and easy way to raise funds for your department? The Alumni Relations Office is making tickets available to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular on Dec. 9 at their cost of $20. The department receives all the profits for every ticket it sells, and determines how the funds will be used: scholarships, faculty support, departmental needs, etc. This opportunity runs until Dec. 3 only.

6. Space limited for OneNote demo

Joy Autrand, Microsoft’s Productivity Specialist for the Western Region, will present a demonstration for faculty of Microsoft OneNote on Nov. 30, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in TIV 329.

7. Students to discuss customer kudos on national airwaves

Members of SIFE @ Metro State, the college’s chapter of Students In Free Enterprise, will join Tom Martino, who is known as The Troubleshooter, on his nationally syndicated consumer advocate talk show Dec. 1 on KHOW (630 AM). The 9 a.m.-noon show is heard on 212 stations in 46 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.

8. IT plans outages during Fall Break

As part of Information Technology’s risk-mitigation project to increase system reliability and recovery, IT outages are planned for the Fall Break, Nov. 22-27.

While no outages will occur during the work day, there will be outages each evening and over the Nov. 27-28 weekend. To view the outage calendar online go to

9. Community invited to dedication ceremony

The Teacher Education Department invites the campus community to a dedication ceremony Friday, when the names of four of the department’s members who passed away in the last year will be added to a memorial plaque. Those to be honored are professors Daniel Alfaro, Suzanne Dunshee and Cecilia Kabisch and program manager Diana Doffing. The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. outside WC 133.

Family members have been invited to attend and faculty and friends will share words of remembrance. Please invite anyone outside the Metro community who may wish to attend. Light refreshments and coffee will be served in the School of Professional Studies Dean's office, WC 133, following the ceremony.

10. This Week @Metro takes fall break

This Week @Metro will take the week of November 22 off in observance of the college’s recently established Fall Break. Have a great Thanksgiving, and we’ll resume publication on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
