NBA All-Star weekend to affect Auraria traffic
February 16, 2005

Auraria officials encourage the Metro community to allow extra time if coming to campus this weekend due to the NBA All-Star events, Friday-Sunday.

They also suggest that faculty, staff and students attending classes or campus events park on the south side of Auraria or take Light Rail to avoid the traffic congestion on the Auraria Parkway.

The Auraria Parking and Transportation Department will provide staff in lots R, D, C and E; the Tivoli lot and the parking garage (PTC) during the NBA event. Special event prices will begin in these lots on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ($10), Saturday ($10) and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ($20). Campus community members should have their campus ID available while parking for on-campus activities to avoid these increased NBA event rates.

Left turns from inbound Auraria Parkway into the Pepsi Center parking lots from Seventh and Ninth streets will not be allowed during event times. Cars will still be allowed to enter the Tivoli parking lot via Ninth St.

In addition, several lower-downtown traffic lanes will be closed to accommodate events.
