The new rates are: Lots: Monthly Permits: According to Mark Gallagher, AHEC parking director, it has become more and more necessary for parking revenues to be used for a range of campus needs, thus prompting the Auraria Board of Directors and the presidents of Metro State, UCD, and CCD to unanimously approve the rate increases. Recently, Auraria's parking operation has funded more than $25 million in campus improvement projects, some of which are related to parking safety and availability while others directly impact student academic needs. For instance, six "smart" classrooms were added in the Administration Building, replacing the temporary classroom trailers. Ten other "smart" classrooms were added in West Classroom, South Classroom, the Facilities Annex and the library. In addition, 10 lots have been upgraded with improved lighting, emergency phones, additional parking spaces and new asphalt surfaces. The money will also fund the construction of the 850-space parking garage at 9th and Auraria and a right-turn-only lane from 7th St. to Auraria Pkwy. For a complete
