| Grad's photo wins award |

Dana Echohawk, who just graduated this spring with an individualized studies degree in visual cultural journalism, has had one of her photographs selected as a Judges' Choice winner by the American Journal of Nursing (AJN) Echohawk's photograph of a nurse talking with a young patient was selected from over 180 entries in AJN's first photojournalism contest, "Faces of Caring: Nurses at Work." The photograph was part of a month-long exhibit at the New York University Kimmel Center. The panel of judges
included Gerald Pryor (Photography Head, Department of Art and Art Professions,
NYU; Director, NYU-International Center of Photography Graduate Program),
Susan Watts (staff photographer, New York Daily News; past president
of the New York Press Photographers Association; the New York Press
Photographers Association 1977 Photographer of the Year as well as honors
from Pictures of the Year International, the Scripps Howard Foundation,
the Associated Press, the Newswomen's Club of New York, the Deadline
Club and the New York Press Club) and AJN art and editorial staff. |
