Gentlemen and ladies, start your enginesjust don't plan on using Auraria Parkway over the next several days. The CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix race takes place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug 13-15, on a 1.65-mile temporary street course that includes Auraria Parkway next to campus. Starting Wednesday at 7 p.m., outbound Auraria Parkway closes between 7th and 11th streets. The inbound lanes close Thursday at 10 a.m. This section of the parkway will remain closed through Sunday and will reopen in time for the morning rush hour on Monday. While the parkway is closed, students, faculty and staff can still access 7th Street heading inbound; however AHEC Campus Police recommend entering the campus from West Colfax Avenue for quicker access. Campus parking lots will be available to students, faculty and staff Friday through Sunday. Non-campus parkers will be charged a higher special event rate. The only way to enter Parking Lot R will be from Speer Boulevard using the jug handle turn on Auraria Parkway. Be prepared to show campus ID Friday through Sunday and expect some delays and noise. RTD will detour buses around the Grand Prix site from 10 a.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Monday. The "C" Line Light Rail will not stop at the Pepsi Center Station beginning Thursday and will remain closed until Monday morning. It is anticipated that Light Rail will be heavily used over the weekend. Faculty and staff needing to access campus buildings on Sunday will need their campus ID's and building keys with them, as all buildings will be locked for security reasons. |
