Admissions, President's Office get face lifts
June 22, 2005

The Admissions Office has been remodeled to present a more professional first impression, says Admissions Director Bill Hathaway-Clark.

The waiting area has been redesigned to be more comfortable.

A fresh coat of paint and new carpet and furniture have transformed the Admissions Office into a more professional and welcoming environment for prospective and current students, says Bill Hathaway-Clark, admissions director.

"We're the front door of the college," Hathaway-Clark explains, "We wanted to establish the first impression that we're a first-rate college."

The office's remodeling includes the lobby area in CN 108 and the adjoining offices of the admissions counselors. Hathaway-Clark says the response so far has been great. "The other first-floor directors have begun conversations with Steve Monaco, who designed our remodel," he said. Monaco is director of the Auraria Student Health Center.

While the admissions project was completed Monday, the remodeling of the President's Office suite in CN 315 is scheduled for completion by mid July. More extensive, it includes changing two of the walls and doors to glass, the creation of a conference room and the expansion of the waiting area.

Executive assistant to the president Teri Bokn's office is being transformed into a conference room with a glass wall and door. Bokn will relocate to outside the doors to the president's private office, where administrative assistant Laura Lempe's desk is currently. Lempe will move into the outside lobby area. The wall and door between the two will be glass. In addition, the walls to what used to be an interior storage room to the left of the main door have been removed to expand the waiting area.

The entire suite is being re-carpeted and painted. The president's private office is being refurnished; its current furniture will be used in the front reception areas and the waiting area will also have new furniture.
