| Accolades for national soccer champs keep pouring in |

National, state and local recognition just keeps pouring in for Metro's national championship women's soccer team. Last week, Head Coach Danny Sanchez and player Ymara Guante traveled to Baltimore, Md., to receive national awards from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) at its annual convention. Sanchez was honored as Division II National Coach of the Year and Guante was named the women's Division II National Player of the Year. The NSCAA lauded Coach Sanchez with the following statement:
About Ymara Guante, the association said:
In addition to these national honors, the team will be recognized with a resolution from the Colorado State Legislature and the Denver City Council. On January 21, the team will be introduced at the Denver Nuggets game against Memphis. |
