2. Provost search committee holds first meeting

The Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs Search Advisory Committee has held its first meeting to receive its charges from President Stephen Jordan and EEO Executive Director Percy Morehouse, to review the timeline and to finalize and sign the committee members' ethics statement.

3. Enrollment countdown begins

As of yesterday—nine days before the start of the fall semester—state-funded, full-year FTES were 2.4 percent higher and total headcount was 2.0 percent higher than at the same time point last year.

FTES stood at 6,602 and total headcount, which includes state-funded and cash-funded students, was 18,854.

The Council of Administrators (COA) at Metro State elected new representatives and officers last week.

5. Owens appoints Metro State Foundation Advisory Board member to CCHE

Gov. Bill Owens announced last week the appointment of Edward Robinson to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE). Robinson currently serves on the Metro State Foundation Advisory Board.

6. Auraria AIDS team walks their talk

Metro State alumna Dorothy Hicks (’94), already has almost $1,500 in pledges for the 18th annual 5K AIDS Walk Colorado, to be held Aug. 21 in Denver’s Cheesman Park.

7. “7 Habits” author to speak at Auraria

Dr. Stephen R. Covey, author of the New York Times bestseller “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” will present a free lecture on “Strengthening Families and Communities,” 7-8:30 p.m., Aug. 22, in the Tivoli Turnhalle.
