3. Silver
lining to parking headache: Your parking fees at work
If you drive to campus, you've undoubtedly suffered "parking headache,"
an affliction that spikes particularly when students return to campus
and the parking lots fill up beyond capacity. While there is nothing
very positive about having a headache, there is an "up side"
to the parking feesand ticketsthat we all pay.

An
active summer
The hub of activity
at Metro State didn't stop when classes ended in the spring, particularly
with a new president at the helm. Among the key announcements was the
formation of a new presidential cabinet and the search for the new provost.
On the fundraising side, Development staff exceeded their goals by $600,000;
the college has been awarded a second five-year grant totaling nearly
$2.1 million for the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) and is
a finalist for a Toyota grant for the Family Literacy Program.
Other changes include:
The college will no longer operate the Metro Academy at the Lookout
Mountain Youth Detention Facility, the Center for Visual Art has become
part of the Art Department, and the Leisure Studies program has moved
to the Department of Health Professions.
