The Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs Search Advisory Committee has held its first meeting to receive its charges from President Stephen Jordan and EEO Executive Director Percy Morehouse, to review the timeline and to finalize and sign the committee members' ethics statement. Meeting Thursday and Friday, Aug. 4-5, with James Appleberry from Academic Search Consultant Service, the committee received Jordan’s seven-point charge. The committee is to narrow the field of candidates to 15-18 intermediate finalists whose references will be checked. From that list, a semi-finalist list will be selected for off-campus interviews. Ultimately, the committee is charged with identifying five preferred but unranked candidates and up to an additional five unranked candidates for potential campus interviews. President Jordan hopes to have the provost/vice president selected by the end of the 2005 fall semester. Therefore, the committee plans to name the tier one and tier two candidates by Oct. 23-24, with on-campus interviews set for Oct. 31-Nov. 11. Next up for committee members is to have their comments regarding the draft of the Profile to Appleberry by today, Aug. 10. Their next meeting will be held Sept. 21. To view the ethics
statement, timeline and charge, go to www.mscd.edu/news/provost,
where updates on the search will be posted. |
