If you're climbing the walls because you’re stuck inside during all this hot weather, then why not really climb a wall? This summer, the Auraria Fitness Center unveiled a 22-foot climbing wall for use by the Auraria community. Built by Boulder-based Eldorado Walls, the wall was constructed to expand the facility and offerings of the fitness center. “The fitness center is a very popular facility that’s often filled to capacity,” says Bryan Ferguson of Campus Recreation. “The addition of a climbing wall increases our usable space by 1,300 square feet. To expand the fitness center, we had to go vertical: programming on the walls.” The climbing wall is open during regular fitness center hours and special equipment like shoes, belay devices, ropes and carabiners are available free for users.
