BOT meets this Thursday

Jun 4, 2012

The Metro State Board of Trustees will meet Thursday, June 7, 9 a.m.-noon, in TIV 320. An executive session will be held prior to the public meeting from 7:30-9 a.m. in SSB 440A.

The agenda includes presentations on the University logo and seal, revisions to Chapter V of the Handbook for Professional Personnel, and the 2012-13 budget, including approval of proposed student charges and the overall budget itself.

As part of the budget presentation, Natalie Lutes, vice president of administration, finance and facilities, will explain the new “Colorado High School/GED Tuition Rate,” an unsubsidized tuition rate proposed by President Stephen Jordan.

Under Colorado law, Metro State has the authority to set tuition rates for its resident and non-resident students. This special rate will be for students living in the state of Colorado who through no fault of their own do not have lawful status to be eligible for resident tuition rates. This rate does not include any state subsidies, such as the College Opportunity Fund, Fee-For-Service dollars or other state or federal subsidy.

The “Colorado High School/GED Tuition Rate” will have certain essential criteria for eligibility, including:

· attended a Colorado high school for at least three years, graduated from a Colorado high school or received a general equivalency diploma in this state, and

· provides a statement that they are in good legal standing, other than their undocumented or unclassified status, and are seeking or intend to seek lawful status when eligible.

The intent is to implement the new rate effective fall semester 2012.

The complete agenda can be found on the board website
