The Office of Sponsored Research and Programs is offering the first of six Community of Science (COS) database introductory sessions this Friday to acquaint researchers with the tools most needed to find funding opportunities.
The sessions, scheduled from this month through January 2011, are for faculty and staff interested in research for public and private funding opportunities as well as student scholarships and fellowship opportunities.
COS is the world’s most comprehensive funding resource, with more than 25,000 records worth more than $33 billion. Unlike most databases, COS offers a “word recognition” search instead of the traditional “key word” search of other popular databases, making the search for funding much more comprehensive and convenient.
The session will consist of a webinar by the COS staff, followed by a brief question-and-answer period. Following the session, participants will be furnished with an individual log-in to the system.
Visit www.mscd.edu/osrp to register for a session to be held 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. on each of the Fridays noted below in Conference Room A at 1020 Ninth Street Park.
