Information Technology has scanned and encrypted 94 percent of Metro State’s laptop computers.
In an accelerated process that was announced in April, IT completed
the scanning as part of an effort to improve information security.
“We accomplished what we set out to do,” said IT Assistant Vice
President Yvonne Flood, noting that a fifth of the 94 percent of
encrypted computers were scanned before the April 18 acceleration date,
and four-fifths after.
Flood said the remaining 6 percent of the College’s computers that
haven’t been scanned, 32 computers, are either with professors on
sabbatical or had to be rescheduled for various reasons.
“We’ve nearly achieved our goal of securing all campus laptops,”
Flood said, “which is critical in decreasing the risk of data theft
from the College.”
