MetroProtect: Secure IT: Town hall meetings on session timeouts planned
Dec 6, 2006
|
The
Division of Information Technology will hold two town hall meetings to
hear College community members’ concerns and suggestions for issues
related to session timeouts for various computer systems. The meetings
will be held:
• Friday, Dec. 8, 2 – 4 p.m., TIV 640
• Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2 – 4 p.m., TIV 442
In October, the President’s Cabinet approved a policy that allows
the vice president for Information Technology to set timeout limits.
Interim VP George Middlemist wants to give faculty, staff and students
the opportunity to provide their suggestions before any timeout limit
is set. The main systems that will be affected are Banner, e-mail and MetroConnect.
Stronger passwords
Stronger passwords will be required
starting Jan. 2. Tips and training on creating strong passwords will be
sent via e-mail in the near future.
Also after the break, you will notice that a password-protected
screen saver will come up after 10 minutes of inactivity on Windows
Admin1, MetroConnect and Banner.
