Beginning next month, Metro State faculty and staff will have access to a valuable resource on research funding opportunities and profiles.
From July 2010 through January 2011, the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs (OSRP) will provide a series of sessions to introduce faculty and staff to the Community of Science (COS) search database, the leading global resource for hard-to-find information critical to scientific research and other projects across all disciplines.
Presentations will show how to find funding with COS Funding Opportunities by searching the world's most comprehensive funding resource, with more than 25,000 records worth over $33 billion in both government and non-profit grants. Other funding opportunities include regional, national and international faculty fellowships and student scholarships. Unlike many databases using keyword searches, the word-recognition method in the COS allows the researcher to pinpoint specific listings pertaining to his or her particular interest.
COS also identifies experts and collaborators through 500,000 profiles of researchers from 1,600 institutions throughout the world. Discover who's doing what: current research activity, funding received, publications, patents, new positions and more. Tracking features for specific and general areas of interest also provide valuable assistance to proposal developers.
Presentations will include a Webinar training session followed by a question-and-answer period. Reservations are requested as space is limited.
Visit the OSRP website at www.mscd.edu/osrp to register for a session to be held 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. on each of the Fridays noted below in Conference Room A at 1020 Ninth Street Park. The registration deadline is one week prior to each session.
