One of the key milestones in the strategic planning process is underway in the next few weeks, with the Strategic Planning Committee conducting a series of 15 focus groups with various constituents to conduct 11 SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analyses and four future timeline (five and 10 years out) analyses.
“These analyses will provide a foundation of information as the committee begins its Phase III work of establishing strategic themes,” says Cathy Lucas, associate vice president for communications and advancement and Strategic Planning Committee co-chair.
The Faculty Senate SWOT analysis has already been held, led by Committee Co-Chair and Faculty Senate President Kamran Sahami and committee member Lunden MacDonald, assistant professor of Spanish.
”People from many different disciplines participated in what was a very thoughtful and considered exercise,” MacDonald says. “It reflected the collaborative efforts of Faculty Senate leadership to represent a vision of Metro State’s future on behalf of the faculty they represent. It also showed that faculty have a voice in the strategic planning process.”
