The latest numbers for fall 2011 applications show the College’s efforts toward attaining Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) status, which have shown significant results since the HSI initiative was established in 2007, are continuing to pay off.
Enrollment among Latino students has increased by 35 percent in the past four years, according to Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services Judi Diaz Bonacquisti, who co-chaired the HSI Task Force along with Deputy Provost Luis Torres.
“We expect the momentum to continue in the 2011-12 academic year, as we currently have a 45 percent increase in applications for fall 2011 from this student population, which is approximately 700 more Latino applicants [than last year at this time].”
Application deadline for this fall is July 1.
“Enrollment by Ethnicity: Census Fall 2006 Through Census Fall 2010,” a report from the Office of Institutional Research, shows the changes in enrollment of all ethnic groups since fall 2006.
