Tish
Hinojosa -
Musician Tish has just released her first studio
CD in five years titled "A Heart Wide Open".
Hinojosa's journey in music began in San Antonio as the daughter
of immigrant parents, listening to Mexican music on her mother's
kitchen radio. After several years in music she landed a contract
with independent label Rounder Records, where she recorded
an award winning contemporary folk album and an all Spanish
record of border roots music. As she was working on her next
project, her music came to the attention of Warner Brothers.
That resulted in the album Destiny's Gate, an eclectic mix
of love ballads, uptempo songs and songs of social justice
in both English and Spanish. Hinojosa's second Warner Brothers
release, Dreaming from the Labyrinth, takes a different approach.
It's a deeply introspective set of songs exploring themes
of love, loss, and the search for life's meaning in lyrics
that move between the two languages.
Tish Hinojosa's recordings include Dreaming from the Labyrinth
(Warner Brothers) Destiny's Gate (Warner Brothers); Cada Nino/Every
Child, a bilingual children's album on Rounder; Frontejas,
an all Spanish album of traditional and original border music,
also on Rounder; Culture Swing (Rounder); Aquella Noche, a
live concert album, on Watermelon; Memorabilia Navidena, original
Christmas music in English and Spanish, also on Watermelon;
Homeland, on A&M; and her first album, Taos to Tennessee,
