Mission:
To establish and maintain strong mentoring relations between
Latino/a MSCD faculty, staff, and students in order to positively
impact retention and graduation rates for Latino/a student
attending Metro State.Co-Sponsored with the Auraria Health
Center SHADES of Genius Program.
Goals:
- To provide students with networking opportunities to
connect with key Latino/a individuals on campus and the
community.
- To act as an information referral source for internships,
scholarships, and job opportunities
- To act as an information and resource network around
issues affecting both documented and undocumented Latino/as
- To bring in key Latino/a speakers to campus
- To provide scheduled activities conducive to the needs
of the Latino/a students
Who are the mentees? The mentees
consist of self-identified Latino/a incoming and continuing
Metro students who are interested in networking opportunities,
meeting other Latino/a Faculty, Staff, and Students, and accessing
various valuable resources like scholarship opportunities,
internship opportunities, and employment opportunities.
Who are the mentors? The Latino/a
Faculty and Staff mentors are volunteer Faculty, Staff and
Student members who are committed and dedicated to providing
mentorship, career guidance, encouragement, and support from
a cultural perspective to self-identify Latino/a incoming
and continuing Metro students.
