Placement and Level Testing

The Department of Modern Languages uses the Brigham Young University (BYU) Webcape online tests for French, German and Spanish placement testing. These tests are used often in conjunction with oral interviews conducted by instructors.

Students may take these tests in the MSCD computer labs (most commonly Plaza 307), where one shows the authorization form with the signature of an instructor in order to do so. The results are given at the end of the test, and can be sent to the instructor and the student via e-mail.

Additionally, the Department of Modern Languages uses the Brigham Young University (BYU) Webcape online tests for French, German and Spanish Level Testing each Fall and Spring semester. The following classes participate: FRE 1020 and 2020, GER 1020 and 2320, SPA 1020 and 2320. The results are compiled and given to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) each August.
